Practitioners should be aware of the evolving trust laws in certain choice jurisdictions, including Delaware, South Dakota, Nevada, Tennessee, Alaska, and more. For those who do not practice in these jurisdictions, it can be overwhelming to compare and contrast these states’ trust laws; however, understanding the nuances and opportunities can help clients better plan and protect their assets in trust. In this session, Brittany Horn Cook, Wealth Planner and Fiduciary Council, of Tiedemann Trust Company, and Brian M. Balduzzi, Private Client Attorney, of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, debate Delaware and South Dakota trust laws, including asset protection, dynasty, decanting, trust administration, income tax planning and more. Come listen and participate to see which state comes out on top and which might be best for certain clients for trust planning.
